When it comes to broadband as it relates to the workplace and business, there are advantages and disadvantages. Let’s take a look and a few of both.

Advantages of Broadband in the Workplace

Internet access through broadband does have its advantages in the workplace. Various technologies which provide cheap phone access of high speed Internet access are provided with broadband Internet. Connection duration is of no concern to those using the broadband Internet. Data transmission, fax and voice all use the same line in the case of DSL Internet access. Cable network connections are used for cable Internet access. Either way, there’s no interruption of your telephone line. Dialup connections are 100 times slower than broadband internet. What would ordinarily take hours with dial up can be done within minutes or even seconds, with broadband.

There Are a Few Disadvantages of Broadband

Nothing lasts forever and nothing is perfect; even when it comes to broadband. The disadvantages of broadband are as follows: cable Internet access does not guarantee access to all cable TV Networks because they are not available in some remote areas; remote or rural areas may not be DSL equipped for service; your computer may need a firewall in order to protect your personal files because the broadband is not as secure as a dial-up connection.

Finally, access to the Internet through dial-up is usually far cheaper than broadband but better in the workplace than broadband’s monthly fee.
